Japan Gov't Commends Subaru for Electric Car

Subaru has garnered a commendation for its work on alternative fuel technologies in its R1e that are contributing to averting global warming.

Japan’s Minister of the Environment made the Commendation For Global Warming Prevention Activity to parent company Fuji Heavy Industries to recognise the Subaru R1e electric vehicle and its high-speed charger.

Subaru’s 2+2 city car is light, efficient and made for urban use with a battery which can be recharged in 15 minutes. The car has a 50-mile range and can be initially charged for eight hours then fast-charged at a suitable outlet.

The car has a 62 mph top speed, weighs 870 Kg and produces 54 bhp at 6,000 rpm from its electric motor.
