Hydrogen Station Prepares for Converted Priuses

The vehicles and station are part of a $7 million South Coast Air Quality Management District pilot program to reduce air pollution in the region.

Riverside on Wednesday will become the first city in the Inland area to run a 24-hour hydrogen-vehicle fueling station that's open to the public.

Don't expect long lines.

Hydrogen automobiles are not for sale in the United States. The only ones on the road are test vehicles or automobiles that private parties have converted. Martin Bowman, Riverside's fleet-operations manager, guessed there are fewer than 200 in the nation.
