If you still question whether American motorists will embrace hybrid-powered vehicles, consider this number: 107,897.

That's how many hybrid Priuses Toyota sold in the United States in 2005, the first full year the mid-sized model was available.

For perspective, consider the fact that sales of the Prius surpassed all Suzuki and Isuzu models combined and were more than double the number of Hummers sold. In fact, the Prius came within 15,000 sales of matching all the Mitsubishis sold in the United States in the last calendar year.
