Lexus LF-Ch Would Offer EV-Only Driving Range

In the middle of Lexus' terse announcement about the debut of the Lexus LF-Ch compact hybrid concept is an interesting remark about the car...

"... benefiting from an electric-only driving capability, a key feature of Lexus Hybrid Drive, LF-Ch will allow for virtually silent urban driving with zero emissions."
This clearly implies that the car would employ some type of plug-in architecture, presumably similar to the one being developed for Toyota's plug-in Prius. Assuming this is the case, it would operate in a blended-mode with the internal combustion engine available as needed.

The car appears to be designed for the European compact luxury market.

Lexus has promised to release more detailed information on the vehicle on September 10, 2009. The image below is an earlier concept illustration of the LF-Ch.
