Turns out, Americans are having second thoughts about global warming and, as a result, strongly favor policies that promote green technologies, like Tesla's planned network of Supercharger stations. AMERICAN'S & GREEN TECH

Days before Mitt Romney’s disparaging comments in the first presidential debate, we started running an opinion poll on EV World asking whether or not our readers approve of the Obama Administration’s efforts to encourage the development and deployment of a range of ‘green’ technologies, from batteries to solar energy. At the moment, by more than four-to-one, readers say they do support such efforts. Similarly, USA Today reported the results of a Hart Research Associates nationwide survey of 1,200 registered voters that found nine out of ten (92%) said it was ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ important for the United States to develop and use solar power.” Even more interesting, was the bipartisan character of the results. 84% supporting solar identified themselves as Republicans, 95% as independents and 98% as Democrats. Hart also reported 78% support for federal green tech incentives.

What is driving this consensus? Part of the answer could be shifting attitudes towards global warming with 80% of undecided voters, for example, saying it is real compared to 45% Republicans and 85% Democrats. This makes me wonder about Romney’s ‘I am in favor of clean coal’ during the first debate. It would appear that a lot of American’s take the opposite view, that 21st century energy technology is the future, not 19th century.
