MORE EYE KANDI

Sometimes you create something that just strikes the right chord with people; and that’s what happened last week with the “More Than Eye Kandi” article I wrote about the story behind the 20,000 car order for Kandi Technologies’ little two-seat EV from the city of Hangzhou, China. The heart of the article was based on research by Marc Talleon, who writes under the pen name of Marc Chang. He’s lived in Taiwan for the past 25 years and it was his insights into the remarkable deal that will see the city lease most, if not all, of the cars to its citizens, while the batteries belong to the State Grid Corporation, the province’s electric utility. Those batteries will also be part of a smart grid energy storage system. Another KNDI expert, Art Porcari, mentioned the article in an online investment forum that discusses the NASDAQ-list Chinese company. Apparently, he said some nice things about it and suddenly people were downloading it. Several wrote back how much they enjoyed it, which, of course, every writer likes to hear. Art also kindly sent me several photos of Kandi’s new robotic system for swapping batteries, one of which you’ll find on page 9. Surprisingly, he also thought the article helped bump up the company’s stock value a tad last week, which was totally unexpected since I don’t own any KNDI stock, absolving me of any accusations of ‘pumping and dumping.’
